Surrey’s Café & Juice Bar
Getting a fresh start at Surrey’s in the Lower Garden District is a sure way to make your day in the Big Easy a good one.
Surrey’s, opened in 2001, is a cafe and juice bar that specializes in freshly squeezed organic juice and equally fresh breakfast and lunch. This quaint cafe is bursting with character and is nestled on the quiet end of Magazine Street.
The inside is a symphony of a busy kitchen and engaging local conversation. According to Mary, the Front of the House Manager, the mission at Surrey’s is simple.
“We want to make customers happy with good food,” she says.
The food and juice do the rest of the talking. Mary mentioned that there are definitely some clear favorites on the menu.
“Our Shrimp and Grits are definitely one of the more popular items on the menu,” she says. “The Crab Meat Omelette is right up there with it.”
“Our juice is all organic and freshly squeezed in-house by hand. We also encourage our guests to bring a bottle of their favorite alcohol to pair with our juices. It’s something that’s definitely unique.”
Although the New Orleans favorites are going strong on the top of the favorites list, there are plenty of other delicious dishes on the menu worth checking out. The Huevos Rancheros, a vegetarian-friendly menu item, comes with two corn tortillas, a hearty layer of black beans, topped with two eggs, cheddar cheese, mole sauce and pico de gallo — a breakfast that is truly bursting with flavor!
But the juice is a big reason that people can’t stay away from Surrey’s.
“Our juice is all organic and freshly squeezed in-house by hand,” says Mary. “We also encourage our guests to bring a bottle of their favorite alcohol to pair with our juices. It’s something that’s definitely unique.”
If you find yourself straying away from the Lower Garden District and craving some juice, Surrey’s has another location Uptown.
